To start this blog off, I will begin with giving a little background on myself.
My name is Ellen Velazquez Muralles, I am about to begin my third year at SRJC. As of now I am a International Studies major with a concentration in Third World Development. I hope to gain some knowledge on another country other than the US, Guatemala, and Mexico, which is where my family is from.
To be completely honest, I don't think I have ever been so homesick in such a short period of time and cried so much in one day. At home I have two younger sisters, one 15 and another 1, and my two lovely parents.
At this moment in my travels, I just can't help but think how quickly time has passed since the day I applied to be part of this trip. The one aspect I am most excited about is to meet my roommate that I will have for five weeks, get to know my tico family, and learn a little about Costa Rican Spanish. The reason I say Costa Rican Spanish is because several people have told me that tico Spanish is a lot different from Guatemalan, Mexican, or Americanized Spanish.
At this time I am waiting to board my flight in LAX that will take me straight to Costa Rica.
